How does Onebip Skinability work? A step-by-step guide

Mobile Payment Tip of the Month – Create Customized Payment Pages with Onebip

Tip of the month from Gokmen Atak

Editor’s note: This is part of a monthly blog series by Gokmen Atak, Onebip’s Product Offer & Quality Specialist.  Gokmen aims to share his “Tips of the month” which includes product features and updates that Onebip partners can take advantage of to improve their mobile payment offering.  Please feel free to add your comments at the end of the post.

This month I’d like to talk about one of the coolest features that Onebip offers: “Skinability”. Yes, you heard it right and now wonder if this word even exists? Yes it does! Skinability is a word invented by us to express the ability to change the skin of our payment page like a Chameleon changing its skin coloration or a Mimic Octopus blending in its environment by changing its look and feel. Inspired by these animals, we wanted to have the same ability of changing our skin, the look and feel of our payment pages. We created the Skinability feature for our merchants.

What is Skinability?

Onebip’s skinability feature provides merchants with the opportunity to give the end-user the sense and feeling that the payment pages shown are part of their service offer portfolio creating a more authentic and improved end-user experience. We allow merchants to use their own branding, personalized layout and graphics for their different products, services and campaigns and even for the different countries they serve enabling an authenticated and uninterrupted experience.

How does it work?

It works through an API which can already be found in the Onebip PC and Mobile Web Integration Guide in section 6.

By following the 4 steps below you will have Skinability integrated within minutes.

Step 1. Create your customized payment pages for your different products, services and campaigns.

Step 2. Contact your Onebip account manager to ensure and confirm that your pages are compliant with the country and carrier regulations.

Step 3. Upload your payment pages (CSS file, JavaScript files, images…) on our server.

Step 4. Add the parameter “skin” to your payment request call.

That’s it! You will have your customized pages available both for web (PC, desktop), mobile (smartphone, feature phone) and for any service model (one-off, subscription) for any country. You can also create several pages for a single product, service or campaign which can be used iteratively. This will allow you to compare the performance of two or more different skinned pages and choose the best performed one in terms of conversion.

We also advise our merchants to be sure that their pages are compatible with all the browsers, PC, tablet and all the phones (smartphone, feature phone) and operating systems (iOS, Android, Blackberry) like a Mimic Octopus that is able to adapt their environment.

If you’re a merchant and interested in using our Skinability feature for your service, please get in touch with your dedicated Account Manager or email us at today!
